September 8, 1930
Good Shepherd Catholic School (GSBH) was formally known as Beverly Hills Catholic School when it was founded in 1930 by the Holy Cross Sisters. The Sisters were both stewards of the school and parish until 1975. Following their time, the school was served by the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, with Sr. Leonella Lynch as Principal and Sr. Francis Mary as Vice-Principal untill 1999.
Following their tenure, the next principals were Sr. Mary Elana Lopez, Ms. Terry Miller and Mrs. Danielle Colvert Today, our school flourishes under the leadership of our current principal, Mrs. Lisa Widmann. With a focus on holistic growth, Mrs. Widmann continues to advance our mission, ensuring that every student thrives academically, socially, and spiritually.
Together, these principals have shaped a legacy of leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the success of our school community.
GSBH remains the only Catholic school in Beverly Hills and since 1930, has stood as a beacon of faith, learning, and community spirit—weathering the storms of history and emerging ever stronger. Through the turmoil of the Great Depression, the darkness of World War II, the founding of global institutions like the United Nations, the tense days of the Cold War, the digital revolution brought by the Internet, the heartbreak of 9/11, and countless other pivotal moments, our school has remained steadfast in its mission.
Now, as we approach our 95th Anniversary, we prepare to celebrate not only the passage of time, but the unwavering strength, resilience, and sense of family that define Catholic education and our cherished GSBH community.
Together, We Celebrate Our Past—And Build Our Future. The 95th Anniversary is more than a celebration: it is a testament to our shared commitment, our faith-filled resilience, and the generations of students, teachers, and families who have made GSBH a home for learning and growth.
Join us as we honor the legacy of the past, rejoice in the present, and look with hope to the future. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
